We are almost at the end of our trip, and today I ate my first mickey ice cream of the year. I look forward to this all year. It’s funny how something so simple can make you so happy.

I wish I didn’t have to go back home to the cold.

Expedition Everest (a cold adventure)

Animal kingdom was our first stop today. We rode Dinosaur, Everest the Safari ride. All fun ask worth while. We had gotten fast passes so we could ride Everest again… That experience is the topic of this post.
We (chris, max, mollie, tess and I) got in line for the ride and noticed that there were some very dark clouds that were no longer in the distance, but right over our heads. As we walled though the line we heard over the loud speaker that there was some “weather” headed in our direction and that if it got much worse they would have to close the ride (Okay, we were just hoping to get to ride). Although, I’m sure if you asked any of us, we were all a little freaked out by the thought of a thunderstorm. We got to the front of the line, sat down and strapped in, and almost on que the rain came. It poured! Big fat drops of rain, but the rise still went. Climbing the first hill we got even more wet then we had on splash mountain two days before. Then we stared the first drop and the rain pelted us in the face, stinging our eyes and attacking our scapls. We were cold wet, and enjoying every minute of it. Each time we left the inside of the mountain the rain sliced at us again.
I didn’t think that Everest could get anymore exciting or dramatic. I was wrong.

On a lighter note, here’s a picture from the safari!

Day at Hollywood

So today we went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios (formaly MGM). Along with all our favorites (tower of terror, Rockin’ roller coaster) we got to ride the new toy story ride “toy story mania”. Although we had read a lot about the ride, we really were not prepared for how amazing and fun the ride would be.
If you’ve ever been on The buzz lightyear ride at Magic Kingdom then you’ll know what I mean when I say, we expected something like that. A slow moving shooting game ride.
It’s nothing like what we expected!!! You ride through a series of “games” wearing 3D glasses. In between the games your ride around spinning and moving very quickly accumulating points along the way.
It was tons of fun, and I highly reccomend it.
As a side note, the ride is in the new PIXAR section of the park, now that they’ve merged with Disney they have their own area of Hollywood Studios. Hopefully we can look forward to more PIXAR themed rides… Perhaps a WALL-E city building ride?

We went to breakfast with Winnie the Pooh and the gang this morning. Stuffed ourselves (haha “stuffed” get it?get it? Eh…well anyway…) with biscuits, sausages, mickey waffles, eggs, strawberries, just tons of food. Max upset piglet by eating bocon infront of him… Poor Piglet….

Happy New Year!

So many things have happened since I last posted; I’m just going to post the highlights.

For starters I celebrated my 24th Birthday (24 feels like 23) and got to spend some time with both of my families. My parents gave me two season tickets to the Broadway in Chicago 2009 season http://broadwayinchicago.com/ and Chris took me to see Twilight (a bad teen vampire romance movie that I wanted to see….).

Christmas came and went, the highlight was getting to spend time with everyone during my 5 day weekend!

I got bronchitis in the middle of December and am just now getting over it.

2009 is now here, and I have a whole world ahead of me. And this year I have some resolutions and plans.

My first resolution is to spend more time with my friends and family, this is a little funny considering that my main resolution last year was to take more time for myself. I’m hoping this year to find a balance between doing things that I like to do alone, and doing things with and for others. Of course my other resolution has to do with weight (it almost always does). I’d like to lose about 10-15 pounds. I plan to continue packing lunches (I stated that back in November) because this not only saves me money, but also allows me to pack something significantly healthier than I could buy off the self or at a restaurant.

2009 is starting off with a bang as Chris, Pattie, Bill, Mollie, Max, Tess and I head off for a Disney World vacation Jan 4th – 10th. Chris and I will be flying, and the rest of the gang is driving (they leave tomorrow, drive carefully!). It’s sure to be a vacation to remember, Chris and I have made this an annual trip, but this will be the first time we share it with anyone. We’re really looking forward to Spaceship Earth, Buzz Lightyear, Tower of Terror and Everest. Getting to spend a week in a place that just makes me happy and feel like a kid is really something I look forward to every year and hope that this is something I can continue to do for years to come.

For anyone interested, I plan on posting a short little update blog while we’re on our trip so check back soon!

My final resolution is to try to at least post a weekly blog, but we’ll see how that goes. Life tends to get in the way.  (but then, if it didn’t I would have nothing to write about) :)
